Jesus taught the value of an individual. He said we are to love others equal to ourselves, not more than. A love of self forms the basis for loving others. The difference between a life of service and codependency takes several forms.
Motivation differs. Does the individual give his service and himself out of free choice or because he considers himself of no value? Does he seek to please people? Does he act out of guilt or fear? Does he act out of a need to be needed?
Codependent behaviour is addictive rather than balanced. Addictions control the person instead of the person being in charge of their own life.
Enabling is another symptom of codependency. Enabling is defined as reacting to a person in such a way as to shield him or her from experiencing the full impact of the harmful consequences of behaviour. Enabling differs from helping in that it permits or allows the person to be irresponsible.
We offer an interactive program that will achieve the following: Allow the participants to hear the faulty beliefs and struggles of others Learn healthy, Christian values for family roles and rules Gain information about healthy relationships and establishing boundaries Break through denial and other family patterns Build healthy relationships by finding love and acceptance in a "safe" place Encouragement from the group to find peace, strength and grace through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
All courses are offered weekly from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Courses are open to everyone! Registration is free, however, participants will be required to cover the cost of the workbook.
